Terms of sale

Effective 10 October 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and the seller of Murder Before Dessert ("we", "us"). They apply to every purchase on the site and to your use of the site. You agree to them when you buy.

The seller is the company named on the payment page before you pay. Write to support@murderbeforedessert.com to get its name and address by email.

1. The product

Each game is a mystery party game that you host yourself: PDF files that you print, a private host page and, where the edition includes it, a personal page for each guest. It is a digital product, delivered online. Nothing is shipped.

You may print the files, or have a print shop print them, and host the game at private parties that you organize yourself, as often as you like. You may buy a game as a gift and pass the host link to the one person who will host it. Without our written permission you may not run a game as a public event, as an event people pay to attend, or as part of a commercial entertainment or hospitality service.

The link is the key. There are no accounts and no passwords. Anyone who has your host page link can open your host page. Keep it private, and send each guest only their own link.

Enter only first names or nicknames for your guests, and only for people who know that they are invited.

Every game is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to real people, living or dead, to real companies or to real events is coincidental. The games are built around a fictional crime. Unless the page of a game states a younger age, a game is written for adults.

We supply a game. We do not organize, attend or supervise your party. You are responsible for everything that happens at it, including the place, the food and drink and any allergies, the serving of alcohol and the legal drinking age, candles, props and costumes, the safety and conduct of your guests, and the supervision of anyone under age.

The guest list, the guests' links and their votes belong to one party. The shop's clean-up deletes them when it next runs after 30 days have passed since the party date you set. Without a date it is 30 days after the reveal was started, or 180 days after the last change to the party.

Friend codes and host vouchers

After you buy, your confirmation page and your host page show a personal friend link and a friend code of eight characters. They work as follows.

• For your friend. A friend who arrives through your link, or enters your code on the order page, gets $10 off that order.
• For you. Each time a friend completes a paid order with your link or code, we issue you a host voucher worth $20 off one later order of yours. The voucher code is shown on your confirmation page.

The following rules apply:

• One code per order. An order accepts either one friend code or one host voucher. Codes and vouchers cannot be combined with one another.
• Not on your own order. A friend code cannot be used on an order placed with the same email address as the order the code belongs to.
• A voucher works once, for its owner. A host voucher can be used on one order only, and only on an order placed with the email address of the order that earned it. It cannot be transferred to another person.
• A voucher is earned by a paid order. It is issued when your friend's payment is confirmed, and not before.
• No cash value. A friend code or a voucher reduces the price at checkout by its amount, and never by more than the price. It cannot be exchanged for money, paid out, or applied to an order that has already been paid.

We may refuse or cancel a friend code or a voucher that was obtained or used by fraud or by getting round these rules, for example by referring yourself under a second email address.

We may change the amounts or end the program at any time. A change applies to codes used and vouchers earned after it. A voucher that has already been issued to you keeps its value for one later order.

Murder Before Dessert is offered to customers in the United States only.

2. Price and payment

The price is $59 for one game, in US dollars (USD). It is one payment: there is no subscription and no later charge. If a tax applies to your purchase, it is shown before you pay. Your bank or card issuer may charge fees of its own, for example for a payment in another currency. Payment is taken by our payment provider under its own terms. The contract between you and us is made when your payment is confirmed.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to buy. A parent or guardian may buy for a younger person and is then responsible for that person's use.

3. Delivery and access

You get access online as soon as your payment is confirmed. You need a current web browser and an internet connection. Keep the email address you bought with: it is how we find your purchase and restore your access.

Your access has no end date. It lasts for as long as we offer the product; a single payment is not a promise that we offer it for ever. If we decide to end a product, we tell buyers by email, with reasonable notice, at the address of the purchase.

We may update, change and improve the product. We work to keep the site available, but we do not promise that it is available at every moment.

4. Your license

When you buy, you get a license to use the product. You do not become its owner. The license is personal: it is for you, for private and non-commercial use, in the way the product is meant to be used. It lasts while you have access and keep to these terms. The product, the site and everything in them belong to us or to our licensors.

Unless these terms allow it, you may not share your access or pass it on, resell or publish the product or parts of it, copy it in bulk or collect it by automated means, use it to build or train another product or service, or interfere with the site or its security.

5. Support

We give support by email at support@murderbeforedessert.com. Write from the email address you bought with. Never send card numbers or passwords.

6. Canceling and refunds

You can cancel an order at any time before you pay. Once your payment is confirmed, the product is delivered in full at once, so the purchase cannot be canceled for a change of mind after that.

All sales are final. A game is a digital download that is delivered to you in full, all at once, the moment your payment is confirmed. For that reason we give no refunds, returns or exchanges once your host page link has been shown to you.

The game must work. If a file does not open, a page does not work, or something described on the game's page is missing from your kit, write to us. We will fix it or send you a working copy, at no charge.

Refunds go back to the payment method you paid with. If a charge looks wrong, write to us before you dispute it with your bank; we can usually settle it faster. Nothing in this section takes away a refund or another remedy that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement, for example when a product is not as described.

7. Ending access

You can stop using the product at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing or reselling the product, or if your payment is refunded or charged back. The parts of these terms that are meant to continue, such as section 8, apply after your access ends.

8. What we promise and what we do not

You get the product as it is described on the site when you buy. We do not promise a particular result from using it. How you use it, and what you do with what you learn from it, is your own responsibility.

EXCEPT FOR WHAT THESE TERMS EXPRESSLY PROMISE, THE SITE AND THE PRODUCT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". WE DISCLAIM ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST EARNINGS OR LOST DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ABOUT A PURCHASE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR IT.

We are not responsible for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this section applies to liability for fraud, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Nothing in it takes away a warranty, right or remedy that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.

9. Complaints, law and courts

If something is wrong, write to us at support@murderbeforedessert.com first. Most problems can be settled quickly that way.

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the seller is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the place where you live.

A dispute that we cannot settle is to be brought before the courts of the country where the seller is established. If you are a consumer, this does not prevent you from bringing a claim before the courts of the place where you live, where the law gives you that right.

10. Other terms

We record website events and how the product is used for internal analytics. Our privacy notice describes how we handle personal information. It is not part of this contract.

We may change these terms. The new version is posted here with a new date. The version in force on the day you bought applies to that purchase.

These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about your purchase. If a court finds a part of them invalid, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a term once, we have not given it up. Unless these terms allow it, you may not transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours to a successor that takes over the product.

We write to you at the email address of your purchase. If you have difficulty using the site, including with assistive technology, or believe that something on it infringes your rights, write to us at support@murderbeforedessert.com.
